Installs and operates the hospital information system by coordinating and implementing various clinical projects and Meditech modules. Utilizes project management methodologies to coordinate simple to very complex projects. Supports all areas of hospital, including clinical with automation, enhancements, custom programming, and training needs. Serves as a technical resource to users, supporting the daily operations of PCs, networks, printers and terminals. Able to adjust to changing priorities which impact patient care, business profitability, and utilization of various technologies. Requires a general understanding and work experience with hardware and software systems, including product selection, installation, maintenance, and life cycles. Primary Job Responsibilities: These requirements are representative, but not all-inclusive, of the knowledge, skill, and ability required of the position. System Planning and Installation: Assists with developing and updating hospital-wide information systems plans and policies/procedures. Assists in the set-up and operation of the hospital information system; ensures a consistent approach throughout the installation of all software updates and new releases for assigned modules. Develops test plans and coordinates the testing of all software updates/new modules for assigned departments to ensure that they meet the needs of the user departments and are error free. Assists in the support of microcomputer software and hardware applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation graphics, database management systems and communications. Programming and Data Reporting: Creates and edits custom data entry screens. Provides data upon request through use of various querying tools (SQL, VB, I-People). Creates and reviews custom programming requests and enhancements for completeness and accuracy. Submits request to Meditech centered vendors as needed. Satisfy Custom Report needs (Client Server based apps like NPR, MSM, ARRAY). Application Oversight: Develops and supports small-scale user interface and database oriented applications using various business oriented languages such as Access, Visual Basic, or Maintains accurate and current dictionaries and parameters for assigned modules within the Client Server platform. Works with Dept. liaisons to accomplish dictionary conformity with assigned applications. Problem Solving: Acts as a liaison to address concerns with access, network, disk space issues, and archiving. Coordinates and conducts meetings relative to issues/concerns raised between assigned departments. Assists with triage, assessment, and solution design for assigned tasks and projects. Technical Support: Maintains proficiency with assigned systems and software as well as researching new developments in these systems for future inclusion. Trains others in I.S. Dept. as well as end users in each assigned application or module. Assigns passwords and access for physicians and employees as directed and provides user support. Teamwork: Responsible for both ad-hock forming of support teams and coordination of all necessary resources pertaining to assigned tasks and projects as well as being capable of independent work both locally and remote. Ability to work as a member of a team or independently, as organizational needs dictate.
Job Requirements: Education, Training & Experience: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field with a minor in computer science or information systems and 2 years experience as an analyst, networking, programming, and microcomputers. Preferred. Two years experience with MEDITECH Client Server clinical applications Required Skills: -Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, multi-task and meet deadlines. -Excellent oral and written communication skills. -Strong working knowledge on Meditech Client Server clinical applications build -Knowledge of Meditech systems, Windows, PCs, and programming. -Hospital/healthcare background preferred. -Capable of beginner NPR writing, MEDITECH CDS creation and query development or comparable skills with SQL and/or VB programming. -Flexible and able to adjust and reprioritize as needed to meet patient care, business profitability, and utilization of various technology demands. -Requires a general understanding and work experience with hardware and software systems, including product selection, installation, maintenance, and life cycles. -Maintains technical knowledge base and proficiency -Proficient with Microsoft Office Products like: Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint -Capable of self-directed support of end users and solutions development -Strong organizational skills -Effective interpersonal skills -Strong customer service orientation -Demonstrates consistent organizational commitment by providing more than the minimum level of support/service.
