Job Description: Our client in New Hanover County, NC is seeking to hire a full time IT Project Manager. This individual''s primary focus will be Epic Special Updates, Interim Updates, and Major Release Updates. Work hours will be dedicated to the Dept. of Project Management. PMP Certification required. RN preferred. JOB SUMMARY: The PMO Project Manager reports to the Manager of the IS PMO and is responsible for working with Physicians, Nursing, Information Services and other departments in the organization to define requirements and implement solutions. Works on medium to large projects and requires in depth knowledge of the organization’s operating procedures and information technology capabilities. Works independently and requires minimal supervision under the Manager, IS Project Management Office. PRIMARY JOB DUTIES: 1. The Project Manager will lead, direct and implement major information systems design, development, implementation and support projects. Utilizes IT Governance software to track projects, project budgets, resources and timelines. 2. Act as Release Project Manager and primary IS owner for all tasks related to planning, implementation and support of all Epic Major Releases, Interim Updates and Special Updates. Coordinate closely with all IS Epic application and infrastructure teams. 3. Assists in negotiating, reviewing and processing vendor software, hardware and services contracts. 4. Communicates as needed to Medical Center departments, acting as a liaison between client and IS. 5. Analyzes requests for support that require system changes and recommends appropriate changes. 6. Creates/controls the development of system specific project/work plans, task sequencing, goals, deadlines, testing and implementation to the extent to which tasks can be performed concurrently. This includes post live support of complex system applications, would develop and maintain associated project plan templates and supporting documentation, while monitoring resource utilization and costs. 7. Implements new system features in support of Medical Center departments with guidance from the IS Manager in very large or high level/visibility projects only. 8. Responds to Help Desk requests from systems users defining priorities, answering questions and resolving problems. 9. Ensures that all system changes are properly tested and documented prior to review and implementation and that support staff are prepared for implementation. Ensures that all documentation has been submitted to the appropriate repository. 10. Communicates effectively in order to provide optimal support of all departments'' information systems needs and to promote a professional climate throughout the Medical Center. 11. Actively participates in continuing education opportunities so as to maintain a current familiarity with emerging technologies. 12. Tests, and supervises testing, application systems as required or requested. Documents testing results. 13. Acquires a detailed working knowledge of software packages and applications (written or purchased) so as to assist the departments in the most efficient use of these applications. 14. Effectively demonstrates the mission, vision and values of CLIENT on a daily basis. 15. Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements: ESSENTIAL JOB SPECIFICATIONS: 1. Education: BS preferred or AA Degree with 7 years relevant experience or 10 years relevant experience. 2. Licensure / Certifications: Project Management Professional Certification required. RN or other Clinical Certification normally acquired through a 2-year program preferred. 3. Experience: Experience as Project Lead or Project Manager with Clinical Information Systems implementations and on-going support preferred. Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible project leadership and systems integrations experience required, preferably within a large healthcare environment. Experience with organizational change management involving management of multiple complex tasks spanning all health network departments required. Experience implementing Epic electronic health record software preferred.
